As part of the 01 San Jose festival of Art on the Edge, Traffic Island Disks will be roaming the streets of San Jose, accosting strangers with headphones and broadcasting their music live on Network Public Radio all next week (7th - 12th August) from Downtown San Jose between 3:30 and 4pm Monday - Saturday.
For the San Jose version of the show, The People Speak have teamed up with a group of young people from the Digital Clubhouse Network
to found a local version of the show: Electric Light Radio. Based in the San Jose History Park (with their other branch in NYC), this team will begin building the dream of a global/local Traffic Island Disks network of street-to-radio shows from around the world!
Joel was hanging out at the bus station with an enormous bag full of CDs, just in case he wanted to listen to one of them while looking at the CD cover. He may be the best qualified Traffic-Island Disks punter ever!
Nick was on his commute home from work while listening to some ambient beats by Astro Projection. We listened in while he told us a bit about his sci-fi enthusiasm..
Prem was chilling with an iced Latte and a newspaper but was happy to share his electronica, house, bollywood and techno enthusiasms with us.

Chris was returning from the book store carrying a manual for dog ownership. Unfortunately we didn’t spot that until after we’d finished interviewed him about death metal and handed him over to photographer Susanna Frohman and reporter Mary Anne Ostrom from the San Jose Mercury News.
This was the first Traffic Island Disks show ever, from the bustling Central London areas of Soho and Fitzrovia.
It went out on Resonance FM 104.4 in late 2004.
